A Milk Movement Permit (also referred to as a Milk Carriage Permit) is required by any person or business that transports raw milk or dairy products in bulk or in containers from one location to another in Kenya. The permit is issued by the Kenya Dairy Board and is required under the Dairy Industry (Registration, Licensing, Cess and Levy) Regulations, 2020.
The permit ensures that milk being transported meets food safety requirements, is handled hygienically during transit, and originates from licensed premises. Both commercial milk transporters and dairy cooperatives that move milk from farm collection points to processing facilities require this permit. It is vehicle-specific and must be renewed annually.
