A Class C Work Permit is issued to foreign nationals who hold a prescribed professional qualification and intend to practise that profession in Kenya. Prescribed professions include medicine, law, engineering, architecture, pharmacy, surveying, and other regulated fields. In addition to holding a valid Class C Work Permit, foreign professionals must separately register with the relevant professional board or regulatory body in Kenya (e.g., Engineers Board of Kenya, BORAQS, Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council).

Class C issuance fees increased from KES 100,000 to KES 250,000 per year under the 2024 fee revision. Note: Holders of a KenInvest Investment Certificate may automatically receive up to three Class C, F, or G work permits for owners, shareholders, or partners for up to two years.
Key Requirements
Applicants must submit professional qualifications, evidence of registration with or approval from the relevant Kenyan professional body, an employer cover letter (if employed), and KRA documentation. Foreign investors who are also prescribed professionals may apply under either Class C or Class G depending on their primary role.
