Common Washing Machine Error Codes and Their Meanings

Washing machines are essential appliances in many homes. However, they can sometimes show error codes that indicate problems. Understanding these error codes can help you fix issues quickly. Here are some common washing machine error codes and their meanings.

F1/E1 – Sensor Issue

F1/E1 indicates a sensor issue. This can mean the water level sensor is malfunctioning or the control board has a problem. To fix this, check the sensor connections or replace the faulty sensor.

E2 – Door Lock Problem

E2 means there is a door lock problem. The washing machine door might not be closed properly, or the door lock mechanism is faulty. Ensure the door is shut tightly. If the problem persists, you might need to replace the door lock.

F3/E3 – Water Temperature Issue

F3/E3 signals a water temperature issue. The water heater or temperature sensor might be faulty. Check the heater and sensor for any problems. Replacing the faulty part can solve this issue.

E4 – Unbalanced Load

E4 indicates an unbalanced load. This happens when clothes are not distributed evenly inside the drum. To fix this, stop the machine and redistribute the clothes evenly.

F5/E5 – Water Overflow

F5/E5 means there is a water overflow. The washing machine is taking in too much water. This can be due to a faulty water inlet valve or a blocked drain hose. Check and clean the drain hose. If needed, replace the water inlet valve.

E6 – Motor Problem

E6 signals a motor problem. The motor might be overloaded or malfunctioning. Let the motor cool down and then restart the machine. If the error persists, the motor might need to be replaced.

F8/E8 – Water Supply Issue

F8/E8 indicates a water supply issue. The washing machine is not getting enough water. Check if the water taps are open and the inlet hoses are not kinked. Also, ensure the water pressure is adequate.

E9 – Drainage Problem

E9 means there is a drainage problem. The washing machine cannot drain the water. Check the drain pump and drain hose for blockages. Cleaning these parts can usually resolve the issue.

F10/E10 – Communication Error

F10/E10 signals a communication error. There is a problem with the control board communication. This usually requires professional repair to check the wiring and control board connections.

U1 – Uneven Load

Understanding washing machine error codes can help you diagnose and fix problems quickly. If you encounter any of these errors, follow the suggested fixes. For more complex issues, it is best to consult a professional technician. Regular maintenance and proper use can prevent many of these error codes from appearing
