Yaya Hotel & Apartments: Kilimani

Tucked along Argwings Kodhek Road and sharing its footprint with the popular Yaya Centre shopping mall, Yaya Hotel & Apartments has built its name on something most Nairobi hotels can't claim: genuinely large rooms. Recently revamped from top to bottom, the property markets itself as home to the biggest rooms in the city, ranging from over 1,000 to 3,000 square feet, giving guests apartment-style space rather than the cramped quarters typical of a standard hotel stay. It's an aparthotel in the truest sense, built for travelers who want hotel service without giving up the comfort and independence of a proper apartment.

What Sets Yaya Apart

Every unit at Yaya Hotel & Apartments comes fitted with a full kitchen, including an oven, stovetop, and fridge, so guests who'd rather cook their own meals than eat out every night have the option. The living areas are properly furnished too, with dining tables, televisions, and comfortable seating that make the space feel like a home rather than a temporary stopover. Daily housekeeping is included, and there's a welcome pack waiting for guests when they check in, a small touch that tends to leave a good first impression. Beyond the apartments themselves, the property has invested in its shared spaces. A brand-new gym gives fitness-minded guests somewhere to keep up their routine, and the semi-Olympic sized swimming pool is one of the more generous ones you'll find at a Nairobi hotel of this category. There's an on-site restaurant for guests who want a proper sit-down meal without leaving the building, along with a coffee shop for something quicker. Guests can also make use of a business centre, and those travelling with the whole family will find a games room and gift shop tucked into the property as well. Security tends to come up often in guest reviews, and for good reason. The hotel runs tight entry protocols, including visitor identity verification, which matters a lot to business travelers and families who want peace of mind during an extended stay. Staff are also frequently singled out for their helpfulness, particularly at the front desk, where guests mention front-of-house team members going out of their way to make a stay comfortable, right down to following up after checkout.

Why the Location Works So Well

Being right next to Yaya Centre is arguably the property's biggest advantage. The mall itself is home to close to 100 stores, everything from supermarkets, pharmacies, and bakeries to fashion outlets, beauty services, and a food court packed with different cuisines. Guests don't need to plan a special trip for groceries or a meal out; it's all a short walk from their apartment door. The wider Kilimani neighbourhood adds to the appeal. Nairobi Hospital is just a few minutes' drive away, which matters for anyone travelling with family or on a longer stay. The Royal Nairobi Golf Club sits about 1.4 miles out, and the Nairobi Arboretum is a similarly short drive, giving guests a green space to unwind in when they want a break from the city. For business travellers, the location keeps them within roughly 20 minutes of Nairobi's main commercial districts, which is a reasonable trade-off for the quieter, more residential feel of Kilimani compared to staying right in the CBD.

A Practical Base for Longer Stays

What Yaya Hotel & Apartments does particularly well is cater to the traveler who's in Nairobi for more than a few nights. The combination of full kitchens, generous living space, and a genuinely useful shopping mall next door makes it far easier to settle into a routine than a standard hotel room would allow. Business travelers on extended assignments, families visiting relatives, and anyone who simply prefers cooking their own meals over relying on room service will likely find the setup here more livable than most alternatives in the same price bracket. For bookings, rate enquiries, or questions about the different apartment configurations available, the details in the table above make it straightforward to reach the property directly and get a stay arranged.
