Tannery / Banda Registration Certificate Fees / Charges, Kenya

A Tannery or Banda Registration Certificate is required by any person or entity operating a facility for the processing of hides and skins in Kenya. A tannery or banda is a premises where raw hides and skins are processed into leather or semi-processed leather goods. The certificate is issued by the county Directorate of Veterinary Services after a multi-step approval process.

Before registration, the applicant must obtain county site approval, architectural plan approval, public health clearance, and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licence from NEMA, given the significant effluent and chemical hazards associated with tanning operations.
