Any firm wishing to offer professional engineering consulting services in Kenya must be registered by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), established under the Engineers Act, 2011. All shareholders of a local consulting firm must be professional engineers, with at least one principal shareholder holding consulting engineer status and the power of attorney. For firms with foreign shareholders, at least 51% of shares must be held by Kenyan citizens who are consulting engineers.
Separate, higher fees apply to fully foreign firms.

Fees are published by EBK and payable via M-Pesa (EBK PayBill 839300) or bank transfer.
Key Requirements
Firms submit EBK Form EBK4 with certified copies of the Certificate of Incorporation, academic and professional certificates of all employed engineers, statutory declarations by directors, and evidence that all shareholders are registered professional engineers. The Board reviews applications and notifies applicants in writing of approval or rejection.
