Clinical Officer Licence Licence Fees / Charges in Kenya

Clinical officers — mid-level health practitioners trained in clinical medicine — must register and obtain a practising licence from the Clinical Officers Council (COC), under the Clinical Officers (Training, Registration and Licensing) Act, 2017. The Council issues this licence after successful completion of training, council examinations, and a one-year internship.

Fee Summary Table

Item Fee (Ksh.)
Registration and licence fee (Diploma) 11,500
Registration and licence fee (Degree) 11,500
Practising/retention renewal fee 2,000–2,500
CPD diary 500
Code of conduct certificate (first-time) 500
Late renewal penalty 50% of the licence fee

Figures reflect COC’s published current registration fee (officially confirmed at Ksh. 11,500 for both diploma and degree holders) alongside commonly cited renewal charges. Confirm the latest figures directly with COC, since fees are subject to revision at the Council’s discretion.

What You Need

  • National ID, KCSE certificate, and diploma/degree certificate
  • Internship completion letter and logbook
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Completed COC registration form, submitted online or in person

Public-sector clinical officers renew their licence every two years; private-practice clinical officers renew annually.
