What is Fuliza ya Biashara and its limits

Fuliza ya Biashara is Safaricom's overdraft service designed specifically for businesses using Lipa na M-Pesa Buy Goods Tills, allowing merchants to complete customer transactions even when their till balance is insufficient. Launched in partnership with KCB Bank, it acts as an instant credit top-up for cash flow gaps during sales, with automatic repayments from incoming till deposits. Unlike personal Fuliza, it's strictly for business tills (not personal M-Pesa or Pochi la Biashara), targeting SMEs like shops, kiosks, and vendors.

Key Features and Eligibility

To access it, your business till must:

  • Be a registered Lipa na M-Pesa Buy Goods Till (active for at least 6 months).

  • Show consistent transaction volume and good repayment history.

  • No separate application needed—eligibility is assessed automatically based on till activity.

It offers a 48-hour grace period (no fees), then applies charges. Multiple draws are allowed daily within your limit, and it's ideal for high-volume days like weekends or holidays.

Loan Limits

Limits are personalized and dynamic, reviewed based on your till's transaction frequency, volume, and repayment behavior:

Outstanding Amount Range Typical Limit Assignment Notes
Starter (Low Activity) KSh 1,000 – 10,000 Newer tills with basic usage
Regular KSh 10,001 – 50,000 Consistent daily transactions
Advanced KSh 50,001 – 100,000 High-volume merchants
Maximum Up to KSh 400,000 Proven history, large inflows

Maximum cap is KSh 400,000 (much higher than personal Fuliza's KSh 70,000). Limits grow over time with more Lipa na M-Pesa usage—e.g., processing KSh 50,000+ monthly can trigger boosts. Check via *234# > Fuliza ya Biashara > Check Limit.

How It Differs from Personal Fuliza

Feature Fuliza ya Biashara Personal Fuliza
Target Business Tills Personal M-Pesa
Max Limit KSh 400,000 KSh 70,000
Grace Period 48 hours None (fees immediate)
Repayment Source Till inflows only Any M-Pesa deposits
Fees 2% access + daily (KSh 12–250) 1% access + daily (KSh 10–30)

Defaults after 91 days lead to CRB listing and suspension. Use responsibly to maintain access
